Protests in Decline

Outside the Presidential Palace, where Zourabichvili had earlier called for her supporters to rally, only 2,000–5,000 protesters turned up—a stark decline from the tens of thousands who had previously filled the streets of Tbilisi. The outgoing president had declared the recent elections fraudulent and refused to acknowledge the new administration. However, her departure from the palace occurred shortly after the new president's inauguration at the nearby Parliament building.

This reduced turnout and Zourabichvili's exit suggest that the protest movement may be losing momentum. While some demonstrators pledged to "protect" the outgoing president, her decision to leave the palace has diffused much of the immediate tension.

A Peaceful Transition?

As the inauguration proceeded, the focus shifted to the government’s response. Would they enforce Georgian law and physically remove Zourabichvili from the palace, or would they allow events to unfold naturally? Ultimately, her voluntary departure avoided potential violence and further escalations.

From the Parliament building, I observed protesters carrying flags symbolizing their discontent with the Georgian Dream party and alleged “ties to Iran”. While the atmosphere remained charged, the presence of fewer demonstrators and the lack of significant confrontations indicated that the situation might be moving toward a peaceful resolution.

Uncertain Future

Despite the day's events, questions linger. Zourabichvili's speech outside the palace reiterated her claim to legitimacy, though her actions suggest otherwise. While the government has consolidated its position with the inauguration of the new president, the underlying grievances of the opposition remain unaddressed.

The protests' dwindling numbers raise doubts about whether the movement can regain its earlier momentum. However, the dissatisfaction among certain segments of the population persists, and there is still a chance for tensions to flare up.

Today we went "undercover" at the Russian election to see what this referendum to change the Russian constitution was really like. My wife gave her vote for these amendments to go into action wich will extend Vladimir Putin's ability to stay in power to 2036. At first things started to go have gone wrong but we worked it out and found the right place.

There have been many developments coming from Abkhazia on the ongoing so-called "Coup Attempt". Many of you know last week protesters stormed government buildings in Abkhazia demanding change. Since then courts have overturned September's Presidential election results and the parliament has told the president to resign. Today the Central election Commission made a decision that new elections will be held on March 22nd, 2020. This is the press conference where they announced it

Things are not going very smooth there so Russia seems to be stepping in a bit.The Deputy Secretary of the Security Council of Russia has mediated meetings between the president of Abkhazia, Khadjimba, and the leader of the Abkhazian opposition, Bzhaniya.
Bzhaniya delivered the demands of the protesters. "They demand the immediate resignation of the president." The current president Raul Khajimba asked for 2 hours for a final decision. Here is the last announcement from the opposition.

Dep chief of OSCE Ukraine Hug visited one of the areas that suffers most intense shellings - Petrovskiy district. He talked to local people and promised that they'll try to visit this area as often as possible.

Residential area in Yasinovataya (near Donetsk) hammered by what appeared to be and purportedly Western supplied 155mm shells fired by Ukrainian forces from the Avdeevka area. Witnesses say it is Ukraine's "Payback" for Russia taking control of Bakhmut / Artemovsk?
In this report we travel to Yasinovataya and see that Ukraine has opened fire on a residential area of Yasinovataya destroying many apartment buildings with what appeared to be (purportedly) and witnesses said Western supplied 155mm shells. It is time to consider a one way trip to Ukraine for many people in Donetsk as many Ukraine travel restrictions are changing. The Ukraine travel ban of the DPR seems to be coming to an end.
Today, having considered all the pros and cons, the government of the Donetsk People’s Republic opened the Elenovka checkpoint for entry. Having visited the site, we will single out the main points for you: it is possible to enter the territory of Ukraine only with the registration in Ukraine and people that do leave DPR are to sign a document saying they are aware that they will not be able to return to the republic until COVID scare is over( and this was also confirmed by the border guards).
You can enter the DPR only with the approval of the interdepartmental headquarters (the application is filled on the website). People who were the first to come from Ukraine today said that they had filed their applications on June 22-23. You won’t be able to pass without an application, the lists are being checked already at the zero DPR checkpoint, so I advise you not get stuck in the grey zone again, do not risk it. As for the work of the checkpoint tomorrow, no one knows a thing; the information will come up closer to the evening time.
I will also go over the last 24 hours of attacks on the civilians of the Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics.
